Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, according to American standards, in the child prodigy category. For a child with Irish origins, who was surrounded she was by gifted parents and family, this came naturally. Maureen was born in this cosy sanctuary on August 17th, 1920. Her family was her parents and family members. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen FitzSimons' was the second FitzSimons children. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen was an athlete at heart and loved playing sports. Her natural ability to perform was the perfect match for her love of athletics. This was demonstrated by her receiving nearly every Feis awards for drama and performances in the theater that her nation offered. At the age of 14, the Abbey Theater accepted her and allowed her to live out her dreams of classical theater as well as singing opera.
